Fourteen star students competed in the annual EFC’S Got Talent competition showcasing their diverse abilities in front of a full capacity crowd and five intimidating judges.
The event was organised by the Epping Forest College Student Union in order to raise money for The Guide Dogs for the blind at Epping Forest College, Borders Lane, Loughton. The event managed to raise £142.14 in total.
The finalists battled it out in a range of performances that included singing, rapping and even belly dancing. When the dust settled, after scoring maximum points from the judges and receiving a thunderous ovation from the audience, Rico Santana performing a freestyle rap, was crowned the winner of EFC’S Got Talent after overcoming the runner-up Michael Opiyo, with Darion Ludkins and Uché Azubike who finished joint third.
Hosting the event was Ian Noble and he certainly managed to keep the masses entertained with his highly amusing antics. The judges consisted of students Charlotte Evans and Jaide Bontoft, as well as lecturer Roy Thomas, Vice Principal Nigel Gammage, and Head of Facilities, Safety and Sustainability Stefan Moretta.
Student Union President James Jackson was delighted: “The aim of this talent show was to build confidence of students from different backgrounds and abilities, but most importantly for The Guide Dogs charity. To be able to gather the support of the college and the local community is a really big boost for everyone associated with the Guide Dogs.”
