EFC celebrates fantastic A Level results

Epping Forest College students celebrated an outstanding set of A Level results on Thursday. Overall achievement rates for A Levels were at an all-time high of 95%. Early indications also showed an 11% increase in A/S Level pass rates from 2010, and 9 subjects saw a 100% pass rate. Families and friends joined students to offer support on the day and congratulate loved ones.

As a result of their excellent results, many of the students are now looking forward to continuing their education at university. Epping Forest College is particularly pleased at the number of these students who are the first in their family to enter Higher Education. Some students have also progressed internally onto courses at the college, such as the Art Foundation course, in preparation for Higher Education next year.

Interim Principal Jeannie Wright was pleased with the results. “My congratulations go out to all of our students who achieved their A/S and A2 passes this year. These results are a vindication of the work that they’ve put in over the previous 12 months.

“A lot of the courses have 100% pass rate so there's a definite sign of an upward trend which we're really pleased with. It's been a lot of hard work for everybody at Epping Forest College. It's been a lot of change but the staff have worked really hard and there's a real will here to improve even further.”

Amongst the students celebrating were Steph Vickers from Chingford, who celebrated receiving an A* in English Literature, and As in photography and Media. She said: “My time at Epping Forest College has been completely invaluable. I had the pleasure of working with enthusiastic and supportive lecturers who helped me every step of the way to achieve the results I did.”

It wasn’t just students that were celebrating though; Chris Bedwell, who works at Epping Forest College as an administrator in the Art & Design department, gained an A in A/S photography, which he studied as an evening class. “The course really helped me get to grips with Photography, and my tutor helped me to put my ideas into my work. I couldn’t have got the grade I did without him. If you’re interested in Photography then I thoroughly recommend the course.”
